Ottery St Mary Town Council has been given the go-ahead to produce a Neighbourhood Plan for the Parish, that’s from Fenny Bridges to Tipton St John and West Hill to Wiggaton and East Hill.

Save the future of the parishThe plan will influence growth and development across the whole Parish, not just the Town and not just housing, but everything else that contributes towards making this a great place to live. The Parish has suffered too long from the lack of an up to date District Council Local Plan and that has meant unplanned development, especially from housing developers.

When adopted, a Neighbourhood Plan will help in securing vital influence over future development and give the Parish a bigger share of the monies developers will be required to provide in support of local communities. Producing a plan will not be a quick exercise. As a first step, it will involve consulting widely with everyone on how they see the future. So look out for opportunities over the coming months to make your views heard. You’ll be kept engaged and informed as the plan develops.

The Town Council’s Working Group wants to hear from people in our community with the enthusiasm and the ideas to help in this challenging project. If you would like to help, please get in touch as soon as possible with the Town Clerk’s Office on 01404 812252 or via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
